As an entrepreneur and business consultant, Brett has been engaged in community building, marketing strategy and execution, brand development, lead generation, mentoring, coaching, event production and digital communication services for 15+ years. His BA and MA degrees in psychology provide skills that help him to see unexpected connections and solutions to problems you may have.
Brett has spoken at the White House’s first ever tech meetup to drive innovation, is on the boards of South by Southwest Accelerator Pitch Event, Seattle Women in Tech, and Washington State Opportunity Scholarship fund (helping young women and minorities attain a college STEM education). He has mentored Techstars, Founder Institute, Startup Weekend, Washington Technology Industry Association and LOHAS companies.
Brett is also the Founder of New Tech Northwest; the fastest growing monthly event group in Meetup.com history (out of 300,000+ international organizations) with over 44,000+ members, and growing by 500+ new members each month. Every month 17 early to late stage companies present to 600+ New Tech attendees in Seattle, Bellevue, Tacoma and Portland. Throughout the year we have 4 Womxn in Tech events, 3 Diversity in Tech events, and 4 job fairs (250-600 candidates attending each event).
Our community is focused on having fun, celebrating the innovation created in the Northwest, building relationships to help and inspire each other, growing our tech and entrepreneurial ecosystem together, and giving back to our communities. Brett activates this community along with a coalition of Seattle tech leaders, employers and workers to do work to help solve homelessness issues.
Brett has appeared on NBC Television, is a contributor at Huffington Post and has shared a stage with Senator Maria Cantwell, Congresswoman Suzan DelBene, and former Seattle Mayor Mike McGinn. He was one of the 2015 Top 35 Social Media Power Influencers in Forbes online magazine. He has spoken nationally for organizations including Blog World, Puget Sound Business Journal, PodCamp, LOHAS Forum, Davinci Institute, Colorado University, Denver University’s MBA Program, Toastmasters International & The White House.
