As one of the largest entertainment and hospitality groups, Melco understands the value of innovating with disruptive startups. This year’s startup challenge is looking for startups across different industries with the opportunity to take away three POCs worth a total of up to USD 50,000!

Not sure where or how to start learning software development? Just want a little help getting ready for Code 201? Or maybe you’re discouraged by the confusing interfaces, unclear error messages, and unexplained concepts of online coding tutorials.
If you’re ready to get unstuck and move beyond the concepts covered in Code 101, come work with experienced developers who can help guide you through your learning. Join us for Code 102! You’ll blast through the prework for Code 201 while getting a tour of the tools and techniques of modern developers.

Outcomes:
At the end of this workshop, you will:
Complete the entirety of Code 201’s required prework.
Configure your computer and see the workflow for serious software development, with free and open-source tools.

64-bit Operating System, like macOS or Windows 10.
Fully up to date, with the latest version of the operating system and all security updates installed.
At least 50GB of free space on the hard drive.
At least 8GB of RAM. 16GB RAM strongly preferred.

The Hour of Code is an annual tradition. Started in 2013, it’s an opportunity for children of school age (K-12) to enjoy one of a large number of fun computer programming lessons that take about an hour. Code.org provides the lessons and volunteer groups around the world help kids complete them.

Luni Libes (Founder, Fledge Accelerator) and Isaac Kato (Managing Director, Techstars). Luni is a successful founder as is Isaac. You will also get a chance to ask them whatever else you’d like to know.
Before Fledge, Luni was the co-founder or key executive at the Nimble Corp, 2Way and Medio Systems (acquired by Nokia).
Most recently, Isaac was the president of Mighty AI (acquired by Uber). Prior to that, he co-founded two successful enterprise software startups, personally raising $200 million . One was a acquired and the other is a global leader in the data center business. He’s also had stints as a venture capitalist at General Catalyst and Summit Partners, during which time oversaw several successful exits.
During the event we will also be passing around a laptop for everyone to sign in to so that they can further connect within the community. At the end of the event our attendees name, preferred method of contact, who they’d like to connect with and what they do is blasted out to our members. We also reach out to every guest who attends after to further facilitate and enhance everyone’s startup journey.

The group presentations will give you a great sense of the stories and backgrounds of the graduates coming out of Code Fellows, while also providing insights into the skill sets gained over the past 10 weeks. In just 5 days, these students plan, build, and launch an MVP to demonstrate their development capabilities.
There is no better way to be part of our community while also gaining early access to the talent from our program than joining for this event!
