Each week in the New Tech Newsletter we feature a Spotlight Q&A with founders, angels, New Tech alumni presenters, and other people or companies in our community we believe you’d like to learn about. Reach out if you’d like to recommend a startup, founder, angel, accelerator, or New Tech alumni presenter for us to spotlight for the PNW tech community!
In this week’s spotlight we caught up with Ston Nguyen, co-organizer of Tacoma’s Startup Week.
What inspired creating your Startup Week?
It is actually a joint effort that is led by KayTita, a non-profit here in our community. They reached out, and we were definitely onboard!
How does your Startup Week serve the tech community?
We will be having workshops around SEO, google analytics and others. WTIA will be hosting some events, and we also have a Women In Tech (WIT) event on one of those days.
What’s the most innovative or interesting thing about this year’s Startup Week?
It’s during Halloween week so there will be at least one event with costumes (and candy).
What do you love the most about the Startup Week?
Working with the other groups in Tacoma. Entrepreneurs have a lot of energy and are usually excited about what they’re building. There is a great collective energy that is being tapped into, and we hope that we can continue to ride this wave into the future.
What is one of the highlights, or memorable moments, for you in doing this work?
I enjoy seeing others succeed. It is great to see an aspiring entrepreneur in our community bring their vision to life. I have seen this multiple times, and it’s great to see dreams becoming reality.
