Over the past four years since we founded New Tech Seattle and New Tech Northwest, we have learned how often people attend our events and end up finding a new job or new employee there. We find that to be a very exciting outcome for our community, even though it hasn’t been the larger mission of New Tech – which is to introduce you to emerging and innovative new technology and technology companies.
Recently, some of our team and long-time members of the community started talking about hosting a Job Fair so that we could offer the same kind of community-centered format as New Tech’s regular, monthly events – but having a focus on helping connect talented, local people to great local jobs.
Everyone agreed that this event should be better than a typical job fair, because we feel like we owe it to our community to go beyond “typical.” So, we are creating a New Tech Job Fair that is community-centered, engaging and offers beneficial workshops and inspiring career opportunities.
The New Tech Job Fair will be held Friday, April 28 at Impact Hub in Pioneer Square from 3 pm through 7 pm. There will be workshops that will help job seekers navigate this job fair and others for the greatest benefit, how to harness the power of social media, and some tips on crafting a compelling resume. We are also putting together some great giveaway that we’ll be drawing throughout the event. Winning cool, free stuff always seems to go over well with the New Tech community.
I am lining up employers to take part in this event – and we already have some top, local companies including T-Mobile taking part. We also invite professional recruiting agencies to join us. In fact, we are setting aside a special venue within the venue for you so you can easily be found by job candidates. If you are looking for a new job or know friends who are looking – you are all welcome to join us on April 28th at the New Tech Job Fair! The opportunities will be primarily in tech or with tech companies, but could be in IT, marketing, business development, project management or human resources. In other words, the opportunities are for anyone who works in or wants to work in the tech industry.
